New Hope quarry must comply with DEP pumping limits

The New Hope quarry must comply with DEP pumping limits, the Intelligencer reports.

The Solebury supervisors announced Tuesday that the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board has upheld a water pumping limit imposed on New Hope Crushed Stone and Lime by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.

The result of a May 5 hearing, the quarry’s April 15 request for a temporary stay on the 500,000-gallon-per-day limit was denied by Environmental Hearing Board Judge Bernard Labuskes Jr, who said the DEP had the discretion to impose the limit.
