Pre-Trip Inspection lessons for rear discharge and front discharge mixer trucks are the latest additions to NRMCA’s Online Safety Series for drivers and fleet personnel.
They contain the latest daily best practice, seven-step inspection procedures to help meet federal regulations, plus pointers for rear or front discharge models bearing liftable axles.
“Pre-trip inspections for commercial vehicles are federally regulated, so this is a very important safety and compliance training tool for the ready mixed concrete industry,” says NRMCA Senior Vice President of Compliance and Operations Gary Mullings.
“These new offerings also don’t combine the rear and front mixer trucks into one lesson, which could be expected since front discharge mixers are only 20 percent of the market. They are different lessons, clearly recognizing that there are significant functional differences between the two types of mixers.”
To add authenticity to each offering, NRMCA filmed each video at a producer member location: Illinois-based Ozinga Bros. for Pre-trip Inspection for a Rear Discharge Mixer and Wisconsin’s Carew Concrete Pre-trip Inspection for a Front Discharge Mixer. The new titles bring the Online Safety Series to seven offerings, joining Concrete Mixer Truck Backing Accident Prevention Program; Concrete Mixer Truck Rules for Using a Backing Spotter; Lockout/Tagout/Tryout in the RMC Industry, Parts 1 & 2; and, Working Safely On & Around Mixer Trucks.
Each streamed lesson is accessible for individual viewing 24/7 and concludes with a self-check quiz and a personalized proof-of-training certificate. Lessons include an automatic participation log for driver supervisors. They are available for a 30-day viewing window and up to 10 viewers ($100 NRMCA members; $400 nonmembers).
