Royal White Cement company based in Texas presented information about its proposed $175million cement plant and quarry near Brady at a council meeting.
The 175 million dollar plant would be built a few miles northwest of Brady, on both sides of Highway 377 at FM 1121.
About 40 families live within five miles of the proposed site. A group of citizens in McColloch County are concerned they have questions, and they want answers.
“Our concern is the emissions, the blasting, the difficulties it will cause to the neighbors, animals, the quality of life, we’re also concerned about a loss of property value with this plant going into our neighborhood,” says George Matula, a spokesperson for Concerned Citizens of Brady and McCulloch County.
Company executives are waiting for the city of Brady to consider permits over the next year.
