Shelly Company focuses on diversity and inclusion on first women’s forum

The Shelly Company held its first women’s forum to discuss challenges surrounding diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Tammy Wallace, Shelly’s vice president of finance, sponsored the event. Ty Nofziger, company president, started the event with a presentation to share the commitment that the company’s leadership is making to encourage a more diverse workforce.

The event celebrated women representing all areas of Shelly’s business, including aggregates, construction, ready-mix, quality control, sales, asphalt, finance, customer service, human resources, liquid and safety. The participants were challenged to think critically about their role in the construction industry and collaborate with their peers to imagine ways to make the business better for all employees.

During the breakout sessions, the participants focused on topics such as maintaining a work-life balance and becoming an employer of choice for all.
