Siemens launched its Sicement electrification system at the ‘Bringing Power to Cement Industry’ forum in Cairo, Egypt.
The system is tailored to provide the energy requirements of industrial cement plants and achieve mechanisation in manufacturing operations.
In 2015, Egypt’s cement production reached 70 million tonnes, making it a major cement producing and consuming country in the Middle East and Africa. Demand in Egypt is expected to grow from infrastructure projects in the country. However, with energy representing about one-third of cement production costs, Egyptian cement producers are looking to reduce costs and increase production.
Siemens allows cement companies to set up power plants and manage energy consumption in the factories. It also reduces production delivery times.
