Sunrise Resources says its natural pozzolan was used successfully in a concrete test which was carried out by an unnamed international cement and ready-mix company.
Sunrise is an AIM-traded company which focuses on the development of its CS Pozzolan-Perlite Project in Nevada, US.
The test evaluated the behaviour of concrete made with the company’s natural pozzolan replacing 20% of the cement in the concrete mix.
According to Sunrise, the natural pozzolan performed well with good strength, low shrinkage and good setting times which compared favourably with a benchmark commercial sample which used a commercially available pozzolan.
Patrick Cheetham, Sunrise executive chairman, says: “The Company is actively engaged in a number of ongoing testing programmes with a number of international cement companies and ready-mix companies that have large operations in the western United States and which are potential customers and partners for our future production of natural pozzolan from the CS Project.”
