One of Oklahoma’s premier precast concrete companies is hitting it big in Southern Australia. Hausner’s Limited, in Durant Oklahoma, was recently contacted by Wildfire Safety Bunkers in Victoria, Australia.
Company representative David French contacted Hausner’s in late January 2009 just after the terrible fires swept across southern Australia. Locals there have been interested in a shelter design that could be adapted into a fire bunker to help save the lives of those who cannot escape the rapidly approaching flames.
Since February of this year, 29 precast concrete storm shelters, equipped with fire-proof doors and safety features, were loaded in shipping containers and have hit the water enroute to Melbourne. Thursday of last week, Wildfire poured their first (2) units with the supervision of Allen Hausner, CEO and President of Hausner’s Limited. Production will continue over the course of the next few weeks or so as Wildfire attempts to meet the orders that have already started to flood in.
