Two cement plants earn EPA’s 2019 Energy Star Certification

Cemex USA has announced two of its cement plants have achieved the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star certification for 2019 for efforts in efficiency and sustainability.

Cemex USA says the Miami cement plant has earned the certification for the ninth consecutive year while the Brooksville South cement plant has achieved the award for seven out of eight years.

Operations at each plant followed energy-efficiency principles established by the EPA Energy Star Guidelines and implemented energy conservation technologies along with energy-reduction projects, the company adds.

Edgar Angeles, executive vice president, cement operations and technical at Cemex USA says: “We are committed to pursuing excellence at our operations, and we constantly look for opportunities to cut energy use.
