Lafarge has named the new CEO of its India branch as the cement giant’s merger with Swiss aggregate producer Holcim.
Ujjwal Batria is to head up Lafarge India. He replaces Martin Kriegner, who has been tipped as the area manager of central Europe for LafargeHolcim once the merger is complete.
The appointment comes just weeks after Lafarge made a deal with Baring Private Equity to become the 100-percent owner of the Indian branch once again. Lafarge paid Baring $304 million for its 14 percent stake in Lafarge India.
he merger between Lafarge and Holcim is in the final stage with the public exchange of shares and is expected to be finalized this month.
