US cement consumption set to grow

US cement consumption is expected to grow through 2016 and beyond, according to research by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas).

Apparent US consumption of Portland and masonry cement increased 9% to 89.1 million tons in 2014, according to the US Geological Survey.

The Portland Cement Association projects US Portland cement consumption will increase this year by 7.5% and continue to grow in 2016 by 7.9%.

As such, Industrial Info is tracking 119 active US cement plant projects worth $2.66 billion, as the industry gears up to meet demand.
