US-made aggregates and construction materials face Turkish boycott

The Turkish government said this week that US-made aggregates and construction materials are likely to be boycotted. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.

The decision comes amid volatile relations between the two countries, after sanctions were imposed by the US when Turkey did not release Andrew Brunson, a US pastor who has been accused of terrorism charges in Turkey.

The US increased its pressure on Turkey recently through the doubling of its tariffs on aluminium and steel imports from the country.
