June 6, 2019

Verder Scientific is to acquire US-based Microtac and Japanese MicrotracBel to extend its product line for particle characterisation by laser diffraction, dynamic light scattering and surface analysis.

Microtrac manufactures instruments for particle analysis, which use laser diffraction and dynamic light scattering technologies, for industrial applications and material research. The company has two facilities located in Pennsylvania.

MicrotracBel manufactures instruments for surface areas and porosity analysis which are used in research fields for particle characterisation. It has three facilities in Japan located in Osaka (headquarter), Tokyo and Nagoya.

Verder Scientific, a subsidiary of the Verder Group, says the Microtrac and MicrotracBel portfolio complements its offering, by adding more than 150 employees.

The Verder group comprises a range of companies that are engaged with the development, manufacturing and distribution of products and services of scientific applications.

Dr. Jürgen Pankratz, CEO of Verder Scientific, says: “Both companies will have access to additional resources to push international expansion and extend its innovative product range.”

Microtrac and MicrotracBel will maintain their headquarters in both countries and the management team for both companies will continue to be in charge.
