The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) state chapter affiliate-the Virginia Road and Transportation Builders Association (VRTBA)-has joined forces with the Virginia Aggregates Association to form the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA). Both organizations cited the advantages of merging their members to meet the ever-increasing challenges of the Virginia transportation construction market. VTCA officials said the group’s immediate focus is to make sure that Virginia has sufficient and necessary transportation and infrastructure funding to help grow the state’s economy. The Alliance will be headquartered in the former VRTBA offices in Richmond. Frederick E. James, Jr., of Adams Construction Company, located in Roanoke, will serve as VTCA’s chief elected officer and becomes a member of the ARTBA Board of Directors. Former VRTBA Executive Vice President Richard Daugherty III, CAE, is the top staff executive. “This union really is a natural fit. The consolidation of resources will further our mission to promote a safe and progressive transportation network for the citizens and travelers of the Commonwealth,” said Johnny T. Glazebrook, the newly elected vice president of VTCA. Glazebrook is also the president of Tidewater Quarries Inc., of Glen Allen.VTCA joins a list of 32 ARTBA state chapter affiliates.
