Vista Proppants and Logistics to open frac sand mine, Oklahoma

October 15, 2018

Vista Proppants and Logistics of Fort Worth will open a 1.5 million tonne-a-year frac sand mine in Fay, Oklahoma, according to a report by Chron.

The sand from the 1,150-acre site will be used in hydraulic fracturing or fracking, the process of pumping a mix of water, chemicals and sand underground to tap shale oil and gas reserves.

According to the report, Vista says its West Texas sand mine in Winkler County was approved in August to expand from 3 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes a year.

In August, the company entered an agreement with JupiterMLP to ship crude oil by rail out of West Texas' Permian Baskin.
